One of the most nerve-wracking parts of the day for the speech givers, therefore it’s important that as much speech preparation as possible is made. Here are our top tips for preparing and delivering the perfect wedding speech.Celebration toast with champagne

1. Whether you are the bestman, the maid of honour, a parent of the bride or the groom, the thought of writing a speech can be daunting. Start planning your speech a few months in advance so you can collect your thoughts and get everything you want to say on paper.

2. Decide on the length of the speech. Gather as much information as you can about the bride and groom. Read your speech out loud in front of a mirror and memorise what you are going to say. Make sure your speech structure flows seamlessly.

3. If you don’t like public speaking then keep it short. Start by welcoming everyone and then lead into memorable accounts, include some words of wisdom with a joke or two to keep everyone entertained.

4. Don’t mention things that are negative like illness, death or someone’s late arrival.

5. At the end of your speech remember to thank everyone and propose a toast to the bride and groom.
